About
Katie-Rose Cunin is a longtime ballet choreographer, coach, teacher, and performer, leading all her work with the same question - how best can classical ballet serve and improve the lives, health, and art of those who seek it out in a short-form world? She has been teaching and creating ballet across Los Angeles since 2011, serving proudly on the faculties for collegiate, pre-professional, recreational, and competitive programs, including Edge Performing Arts Center, AMDA College and Conservatory, and guest teaching at Millennium Dance Complex. Her decade plus of coaching and choreographing (with a focus on classical variations) includes Youth America Grand Prix placements, guest- and convention-teaching, and a specialty in private instruction for new-to-advanced dancers of all ages and goals, from athletes to celebrities, from influencers to actors, from returning dancers to Cannes award winners.
She is a proud working member of SAG-AFTRA, a former member of Actor’s Equity Association, has amassed undergraduate work at both UCLA and Cal State LA on academic scholarships, and brings a wealth of experience with the ABT National Training Curriculum and Progressing Ballet Technique to her teaching syllabus. Her work as an actor includes ABC’s Scandal and FX’s Snowfall.
Born in San Francisco and raised in Sacramento, Katie-Rose achieved early success as the youngest principal dancer in the history of her regional company, (performing works throughout her studies by Jiri Kylian and George Balanchine, with soloist roles in Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Giselle, and The Nutcracker), receiving her advanced ballet training in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles with Gelsey Kirkland, Alaine Haubert, Reid Olsen, David Howard, Summer Lee-Rhatigan, Deirdre Hawkins, and The Sacramento Ballet. She has danced for Elan Artists, The Dance Fund, Regional Dance America, Zolita, 3-D Theatricals, and the Miss America Organization; has been featured in Men’s Health and Yahoo! News: and spoken about artists’ personal finances for YNAB. Her own specialization in the classical has reinforced her belief that it is never too late, that learning never ends, and that all those who seek out the excellence and discipline of true ballet deserve the chance to explore it with dignity. She is grateful every day for her rich and varied life - on screen, on stage, and most unwaveringly, in the studio. Off the clock, Katie-Rose enjoys a Stumptown pour over coffee, a humbling Lagree workout, and her perfect TV-watching cat, Emmy Rose.
